A full exterior repaint that completely changed the character of this 1940s weatherboard bungalow in Spreydon.
The house arrived tired: flaking cream paint, weathered sills, bare patches of timber and faded pink window frames. It left in a deep charcoal, with the weatherboards, base and chimney all in the dark tone and the window frames, porch, brackets and mouldings picked out in bright white.
The preparation was the biggest part of the job. Every board was scraped, sanded and spot-primed, the brick chimney was painted to match, and the ornate porch brackets and dentil mouldings were cleaned up and brushed by hand before the final two coats went on.
The main focus of this job:
Thorough preparation of badly weathered boards so the dark colour would hold, and a crisp white contrast on the porch, brackets and window frames to bring out the home's original detail.
