Roof Painting in Christchurch

A roof repaint protects your home from rust and harsh weather while refreshing its whole look. Iron, Colorsteel and tile roofs across Christchurch are coated with premium, weather-tough roof systems. It's a cost-effective alternative to a full replacement.

Rust Treatment and Roof Repairs Before Painting

Paint only lasts if the roof underneath is sound. The roof is water-blasted, rust is treated, loose or missing fasteners are replaced and minor repairs are made, all before priming. The result is a longer-lasting, better-looking roof finish.

Safe, Tidy Roof Painting From Start to Finish

Safe access comes first, with scaffolding wherever height or pitch requires it. Coatings only go on in suitable, dry weather, and your gardens, paths and cars stay protected throughout. When the job's done, all rubbish leaves the site.

Our roof painting process

From first visit to final sign-off, here's exactly what to expect.

  1. Free quote & site measure

We inspect the roof, access, existing coating and any rust or repairs. You get a clear, itemised quote.

  2. Job booked

Once approved, we lock in start dates around weather and access, and confirm what will happen on site.

  3. Scaffold (if required)

Safe access is set up before work starts. Not every roof needs it — only where height or pitch requires it.

  4. High-pressure wash

The roof is water-blasted to remove dirt, moss, lichen and loose coating so the new system can bond properly.

  5. Repairs & rust treatment

Rust is spot-treated, loose screws are fastened, and any other repairs are checked and completed before paint goes on.

  6. Undercoat

    A suitable primer/undercoat is applied.

  7. Premium top coats

Two quality roof coats are applied in suitable weather for even coverage and a durable finish.

  8. Clean-up & quality check

A quality check is complete and the site is tidied. All empty buckets and rubbish is removed from site.

  9. Scaffold down

Access equipment is dismantled and removed, leaving the property clean and complete.

Our Roof Painting Services

A painted roof does more than look good: it seals the surface against rust, moss and UV, and can add years to the life of your roof. Every job follows the same process: clean, repair, prime, coat.

  • Corrugated and trough-profile metal roofs are washed down, treated for rust and primed where the coating has failed, then finished in two coats of a flexible roof membrane paint that handles Canterbury's hot summers and frosty winters.

  • Tiles are moss-treated and pressure washed, cracked or slipped tiles are replaced, and the whole roof is sealed and coated to restore colour and stop water soaking into porous tiles.

  • Older decramastic roofs lose their stone chip and start to rust at the edges. We clean, prime and re-coat them with a textured roof finish that hides wear and brings back a uniform look.

  • If the roof is sound but grubby, a treatment and soft wash removes moss, lichen and grime without disturbing the existing coating, and gets your roof ready for a re-coat later on.

  • Rusted fixings, laps and flashings are ground back and treated, loose screws replaced and small holes sealed before any paint goes on, so the new coating has a solid base.

  • We can finish the gutters, downpipes, fascia boards and flashings at the same time so the whole roofline matches, and clear the gutters of debris while we are up there.

Frequently asked questions

How Long Do You Take to Complete a Painting Project?

This entirely depends on the size of the house, the job specifications and how much time we have to spend preparing the surface being painted. Without knowing the scope of the job, it’s difficult to answer this question. However, when presenting our proposal for the job, our Canterbury painters will provide a rough timeline for completing the job including start and finish dates. Our residential painters in Christchurch are efficient, reliable and fast, so we strive to complete the job at the earliest.

How Often Should I Have My Roof Painted?

Roof painting typically lasts 10-15 years, depending on the material and climate.

Do You Offer a Guarantee?

Yes, all of our painting work is covered by a guarantee. Most exterior paint jobs last 15 years. And when it comes to interior paint jobs, it entirely depends on you. Given that the interior is not exposed to the vagaries of nature, it won’t need a repaint for several years.

Can You Paint Over A Rusty Roof?

Absolutely, we remove rust and apply protective primers before painting to ensure a lasting finish.

Is Roof Painting Weather-Dependent?

Ideally, we paint during dry, mild weather to ensure the best results.
